Don't hide that light in you!!!

It's been more than a month since my last post. My laptop has gone bust and so i've not had the chance to come and write as often as i've wanted to. In our fasting prayer yesterday, i heard an exhortation which touched me and i want to share it with you. I have to give the credit for this message to Uncle Varghese, a wonderful man of God who comes to church.

Uncle Varghese was talking from Matthew 5, where Jesus talks about being the salt and light of the earth. I had written once before on this topic, but this is a completely different revelation. It's amazing how God can reveal very different messages from within the same passage. That is why the Bible is living and powerful. Even after 2,000 years no one can boldly claim that they have understood or unravelled the complete message of this 66 book masterpiece by the Holy Spirit. I look forward to you all to share with me as well, if you receive any fresh revelation on any scripture. Bro. Abu from Shekinah has another revelation on the passage and i hope he will pass it to me so i can share it with you all.

In brief, this is what Uncle Varghese shared:

1. Matthew 5:15 - Do not hide your light under a Bowl. The bowl represents our livelihood. It is our business, careers, occupations, education and anything that ensures we have food on the table. Sometimes, we can be too pre occupied in our careers, that we forget that the real sustainer of our life is God. We suppress the light (God's word) entrusted to us for the sake of our career. We do not give the priority due to God's word. Let the world see it, don't let your worldly means of livelihood hide that light.

2. Luke 8:16 - Do not hide your light under the bed. This might be something familiar to all of us. How many times have we stopped going for fellowship, not spend time in prayer and meditation, not visited someone who was sick because we are tired? I am guilty of this many times. The bed represents bodily persuasion of hiding the light in the name of tiredness, sickness and pain. Paul teaches us that neither sickness, nor persecution could stop him from sharing about the love of Christ.

3. Luke 11:33 - Do not put off your light by living in sin. The passage says do not hide the light in the secret place. Those areas of our lives that no one knows, the closet with the many skeletons of our past. Do not cover up those areas but let the light of God's word shine in those areas and expose it so that we can deal with them and live a life of righteousness.

SHALOM!
