Do you feel the warmth of God's embrace?

I have been spending a lot of time with Jadon, my older son, since the time Nehemiah arrived. By God's blessing, He sleeps with me without any tantrums, the incentive being that he can listen to music on my laptop as he sleeps. The other day we were sleeping and i got up to keep my laptop away. As i was looking, he had his eyes closed but he was turning about and reaching out with his hands to find me. He had suddenly realised that he could not feel me around. He was missing the warmth of my hug. As i came back and hugged him, he was restful again.

I was struck by this thought at that moment, that as i journey through life my comfort comes from the warmth of God's love towards me. Psalms 91 says, He will cover you with his feather and under His wings you will find refuge! When i sin and lose the consciousness of His presence, i repent not because i have been taught that confession is important but i repent because i long to feel the warmth of God's embrace again. I long for that rest and tranquility that He alone can give.

Because of the warmth of God's love, I am at peace knowing that he is in control and will protect me from my enemies. I also grow spiritually to become a child of God just as an egg when warmed by the hen brings out the chicks.

Today do you feel that warmth of God's embrace or are you shivering under the cold storms of the world? A hug is not overpowering hold. It is a gentle squeeze that assures you that He is near and watching over you.
He is willing to hug you are you willing to surrender to His love. For me to hug Jadon was more fulfilling than any salary raise or promotion. It is the same for God and that is why He was willing to send Jesus to die on the cross. Come, do not resist this love anymore!
