Elections!!!

The Iranian elections just got over with much fanfare, some are happy, maybe most disappointed. Not long ago, the world watched with bated breath as Barack Obama made history as the first black president of the United States of America! A group of people that were brought in as slaves to a foreign land has now brought forth from its bosom the most powerful man in the world. Closer home, a fiercely contested Indian elections yielded results that has brought a smile to every indian praying for moral government that will take the country ahead as an economic power to be contended with.

So much energy and resources are spend in choosing the right person to lead the nation and the people. Election is a powerful word and so often used in the Bible. The Bible keeps reminding that we are people created with a Godly purpose and not formed because God did not know what to do with His free time. We have been elected, chosen, called out by name to prepare the way of the Lord in these last days.

Its good to know God has elected us but how will i fulfill my calling? 2 Peter 1:10 says: "Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternalkingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ." What are "these things" that we need to do?
If we read a few passages above, we are to make every EFFORT to:

1. Add Goodness to the Faith we have when we received Christ into our life

2. Add Knowledge of God's Grace and Christ's Love to the Goodness

3. As you increase in Knowledge, let your words and deeds be Self Controlled under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, our Counsellor.

4. Add Perseverence and Patience to Self Control

5. Let Godliness be revealed as you Persevere in the midst of persecution.

6. From Godliness comes Brotherly kindness as we cannot have compassion to our fellow humans unless Christ increases and we decrease.

7. From Compassion shall break forth Love that the World will see for they shall not come to God by your words but by your life that reflects the Love of God Alimighty who send His only Begotten Son to die for the world that the world that was in darkness shall receive Light which results in eternal life.

Are you elected? Doesn't matter if you are popular or not. The One who created the Heavens and the Earth calls you today. He says YOU are His AMBASSADOR. There is no debate beyond His word.

The question now is - are you ready for the task?
